Pain is experienced very differently from person to person, and some areas of the body
can be more sensitive than others. Some people hardly feel anything, while others notice a
warming sensation in the treated area.
The first 48 hours after IPL are important for protecting the skin and avoiding direct sun
exposure. Use a high-protection sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher. Continue to apply SPF in
the following weeks and protect the skin by covering it as much as possible. This is easier
if the bikini line or underarms have been treated and more challenging if the arms or legs
have been treated.
Treatment intervals are timed according to the hair growth cycle, which is approximately 6
weeks.
IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light. It uses bright light that passes through a filter, allowing
only the wavelengths needed to reach just below the skin’s surface.
Lasers deliver only a single wavelength of light.
For 4 weeks before treatment, avoid sugaring, waxing or plucking hair in the treatment
area.
Avoid self-tanning products on the area for 2 weeks. Treatment cannot be performed on
very tanned or sunburnt skin.
The skin in the treatment area must be completely intact.
Active herpes in the area means the treatment cannot be carried out.
If you are taking any medication, please contact your practitioner in advance, as some
medicines can increase photosensitivity.
We do not perform this treatment during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or for clients with
epilepsy.
After IPL hair removal, the skin is particularly sensitive to heat. Avoid hot baths and
showers. Wash the treated area only with cool or lukewarm water for the first 2–3 days.
Avoid fragranced skincare products for 48 hours, including soaps, creams and deodorants.
Protect the treated area very carefully from UV exposure for 2 weeks. This includes both
sunlight and tanning beds.
