The skin around the eyes is thinner and contains fewer oil glands, less elastin and less subcutaneous fat than other areas of the face, making it more prone to dryness and early signs of ageing. Because the eye area does not have the same protective oil layer found elsewhere on the skin, it is naturally less hydrated. Environmental factors such as UV exposure, pollution and blue light can further worsen dryness and fine lines. Repeated facial expressions also contribute to the formation of wrinkles over time.
